There are so many theme parks in America that it is so hard to just choose a few to include here. But I will do my very best! Everything in America seems to be much, much bigger and so a lot of the theme parks in this blog would benefit from at least a couple of days to explore them properly. You wouldn’t want to miss anything, would you? Here we go!
Disneyland Park (Anaheim, California)
We might as well start with the big one! No list of top theme parks would be complete without Disneyland Park. This park is absolutely huge! You could be there for a week and not discover everything, but that just means that you get to go back in the future and discover more! It is one of the most magical places on earth. It has rides and attractions for children and adults of all ages, so nobody could ever possibly be bored. I promise you that!
Legoland California (Carlsbad)
All of the rides and attractions are aimed for 2 to 12-year-olds, but that doesn’t mean that big-kids (your mum or dad) can’t have fun too! Even if you aren’t into lego, you can still have a great day out here. The water park area is brilliant and has an interactive water-playground. There’s so much to do at Legoland California. It is fun for all the family!
Six Flags Fiesta Texas (San Antonio)
This park spans over 200 acres which is really, really big! It is divided into five themed areas, plus a water park called White Water Bay. There really is something for people of all ages, from huge, scary rollercoasters, to more gentle attractions. The park hosts lots of events through the year including Fright Fest (September-October) and Holiday in the Park (November-January), which transforms the park into a whole other world!
Story Land (Glen, New Hampshire)
‘Where fantasy lives.’ The slogan for this site says everything you need to know. It is great for children with big imaginations. The park has lots of good old-fashioned attractions. It doesn’t need big fancy rides to be fun. It captures the hearts of children through the magical interactive adventures. If you have young brothers/sisters or are a young-kid at heart, this is one for you!
Cedar Point (Lake Erie, Ohio)
This theme park is one of a kind. Have you ever seen an amusement park on a lake? No? Me neither! This park has 71 rides and 17 rollercoasters. A lot of the rollercoasters are aimed at bigger-kids, but there’s also lots for younger children to do too. Family rides include carousels, a giant wheel, and the Cedar Point and Lake Erie Railroad. It also has the tallest and fastest water-ride in the world if you want something a bit more nerve-wracking.
Hershey Park (Pennsylvania)
This is one of those theme parks that has the perfect balance between stuff for young children, older children and adults. There are 33 rides for children under 3ft tall and a dozen rollercoasters for parents or bigger kids. It also has a lovely little zoo, if you fancy a break from the rides, as well as 12 water-rides! See, there really is something for everyone! There is even an air-conditioned Chocolate World, where you can learn how your favourite chocolate is made.
Universal’s Islands of Adventure (Orlando)
Did I save the best for last? Possibly! There is no way I could possibly tell you everything that there is at this theme park. Toddlers will love Seuss Landing and the big kids (I’m including myself here) will fall in love with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. You can even meet some of your favourite characters while exploring their worlds. Spiderman, Puss in Boots, The Lorax and Hogwarts conductors can be found wandering around their own ‘island’. You can even get their autographs!
There are so many other theme parks that I wish I could include here. But I think I’ve given you some good places to start.
