Theme parks aren’t just a place for thrill-seekers and teenagers. They can be enjoyed by the whole family. We have some incredible ones in the UK too, so you don’t even have to travel far to have a great day out. Here are some of my favourites…
ALTON TOWERS
The list would certainly not be complete without Alton Towers, which is one of the most famous UK theme parks. It has something for everybody from adults to toddlers, including hair-raising rollercoasters and CBeebies Land. Based in Stafford, it’s relatively central and so is well worth the drive.

THORPE PARK
Thorpe Park is pretty similar to Alton Towers as it has something for toddlers, children, teenagers and adults. It is based in Surrey. For young children there’s Angry Birds 4D, for older children (or maybe just taller ones) there are big rollercoasters like The Swarm, Saw and Stealth. It also boasts a water play area too.
LEGOLAND WINDSOR
LEGOLAND Windsor is more geared towards kids than the other theme parks so far. It has over 55 rides for you to choose from, as well as a Lego driving school where you can learn to drive a lego car. It has different areas, including Duplo Valley and Kingdom of the Pharaohs, with plenty of things to do. As a bonus, LEGOLAND also as nice hotels that parents seem to love!

DRAYTON MANOR
Based in Staffordshire, Drayton Manor has a great mix of rides and other activities. It has a zoo, a dinosaur park and a crazy golf course, so if you don’t love rides, there will still be something here that you’ll enjoy. It is also home to Thomas Land for the Thomas the Tank Engine lovers out there.
GULLIVER’S KINGDOM
Gulliver’s Kingdom is based in Matlock Bath, Derbyshire. It has lots of things to do for children of all ages, not just rides! It has a section called Toy Land for children under the age of 5, which is great if you have younger brothers or sisters. It also has a zip line course if you’re feeling adventurous.

M&D’s
Based in Lanarkshire, Scotland, M&D’s has rides and attractions for all of the family. It has rollercoasters for people of all ages and boasts Scotland’s only indoor rainforest. It has lots of fairground rides too, as well as an arcade and bowling alley. There’s plenty to do and if rides aren’t for you, there’s also a crazy golf course.
While there are other theme parks in the UK, these are my top picks for children and families. There’s something for people of all ages at each of these parks so that you’re not stuck around waiting for your parents, or taller siblings, to have their fun.
